During my tenure at Aequilibrium, I led product design initiatives for the launch of Central 1's new personal banking mobile platform, Forge. Central 1 engaged us to enhance the B2B onboarding process for the platform and create customizable UX/UI options for their credit union clients. These options were meant for use by sales and marketing teams to showcase the platform's capabilities.
Forge is an agile platform crafted to adapt to the dynamic nature of the financial services industry, evolving technologies, and emerging trends. The Forge Digital Banking solution enables financial institutions to accelerate their digital transformation efforts and effectively compete in the digital-first landscape. It serves as a data-driven, omni-channel digital banking platform strategically designed to support the future of Open Banking.
Initially, our primary objective was to grasp the fundamental requirements for transforming into a FinTech company with the characteristics of a bank. After successfully setting up partnerships, obtaining the necessary insurance, and fulfilling the licensing requirements, we could then move forward with defining our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). To achieve this, we conducted a comprehensive competitive analysis and immediately set to work. Using the Design Sprint framework, I identified the essential MVP features that would pave our way to entering the market.
We crafted a personalized iteration of the foundational product to spotlight its flexibility and potential. This turned out to be an invaluable tool, offering credit unions a tangible, real product to explore and experience. My team promptly delved into comprehending the base product's capabilities and explored ways to provide enhanced, customizable solutions while ensuring the core stability of the Forge backend.
